Summer Camp 2025

Letter to Campers and Families

Dear Campers and Families,

Thank you for registering for the 2025 Horse Camp Adventures program at Horses for Hope! We are thrilled to welcome you to what promises to be a summer full of learning, adventure, and unforgettable memories.

My name is Emma Stanley, and I am honored to serve as your Camp Director for the 2025 season. With a background in teaching and curriculum development, I’ve enjoyed crafting this summer’s program in collaboration with our incredible team of counselors. Please review the following guidelines to know what to expect at camp, as well as rules regarding food, cell phones, and more.

What You Can Expect at Camp:

Individualized Instruction:
Thanks to a low camper-to-instructor ratio, every child receives personalized attention tailored to their level and learning style.

Fun & Educational Activities:
Campers will enjoy a blend of horsemanship, a variety of lessons, games, and hands-on learning to keep them excited and engaged throughout the day.

Memorable Experiences:
From riding lessons to making new friends, each day is designed to be filled with joy, growth, and adventure.

Commitment to Safety:
Safety is our top priority. All staff members, including myself, are adults with extensive experience in both equine care and camp instruction. Each of us has completed equine safety training, and campers are always under our direct supervision.

If you have any questions or concerns throughout the summer, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I am always available and happy to help.

Camp Rules and Reminders:

  • No food deliveries are permitted. Food should only be brought in lunch bags that are dropped off in the morning with the camper(s). Parents or guardians may not order DoorDash, GrubHub, UberEats, etc., for their campers, and campers are not allowed to order delivery for themselves. (If a parent or guardian would like to come and have lunch with their camper, the parent or guardian may bring food in this instance.)

  • Snacks will be provided by Horses for Hope. Only campers in full-day camp will need a lunch bag, as half-day campers will be released at lunch time.

  • No cell phones or any other electronic devices are allowed during the camp day for campers– even during breaks or lunch time. Phones may be left in the office if needed. If a phone is seen during the day, it will be confiscated and given back to the parent/guardian upon pick-up of the camper. If you need to get in touch with your child during the day, you may text or call the camp director at (919) 346-3263 for emergency purposes.
    • Note: camp staff and volunteers (18+) will have access to phones for emergencies, but phones will not be used by staff or volunteers unless they are on a scheduled break OR there is an emergency.

  • Late arrivals: Campers who arrive after horses have been tacked up will not be able to ride that day.

  • Late pick-up policy: A flat fee of $20 applies after the first 15 minutes past pick-up time, with an additional $1 for every minute thereafter. Please respect the time of our staff and volunteers and arrive promptly.

  • Closed shoes are required at all times for campers and any staff, volunteers, or parents entering the property. This is a working farm, and fully enclosed shoes are required for your safety. No Crocs or sandals allowed for anyone who enters the main gate.

  • Camp T-shirt: Please bring a plain white t-shirt on the first day of camp for our t-shirt decoration activity.

  • Packing List: Extra set of clothes, towel, reusable water bottle, and any necessary hygiene items.
    • A private changing area will be available.
    • We will send an email alert if any personal items (such as bags) are left behind.
    • Please apply sunscreen and bug spray to your child(ren) each morning prior to their arrival.

  • If your child or children have behavioral or medical needs, a parent or guardian must be present while the child or children are at our camp. This is for the safety of your camper(s) as well as legal purposes.

  • Please inform us if there are language/speech barriers or requests for differentiated instruction—this helps us maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all campers.

  • Camp Showcase: Join us on the Friday of your camp week(s) to celebrate your camper’s achievements! Please stay tuned for more information from our Horses for Hope board president Chris Campbell regarding the showcase.

We’re so excited for the summer ahead and can’t wait to welcome your child(ren) to the barn. Get ready to saddle up for a season of growth, fun, and horsemanship!

Warm regards,
Emma Stanley
